ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Pamela Kinkus never imagined she would fall into the world of the fairies. She didn’t find them; they found her. One day, while riding her motorcycle in the West Virginia mountains, she came upon an amazing place. It was a beautiful hemlock forest tucked away in the Allegheny Mountains. She stopped and began taking pictures, and before she knew it, the fairies were tickling her mind. The poem tumbled out as she searched for scraps of paper to capture it before it slipped away.

She knew at that moment that the poem and the images of the forest and the fairies would come together in a book called The Fairy Ferns that she would write for her niece’s second birthday. The first form of the book was, indeed, completed in time for Pamela to read to Sophie on her birthday. But the fairies weren’t done with Pamela yet. They wanted to share their adventures with everyone, so Pamela started on the road to publishing the story.

Pamela’s creative streak and wild imagination helped move this project forward. She follows her intuition, which has always led her to great adventures and special people. The Fairy Ferns is the latest in a long line of interesting journeys, with many more to come!
